The older ones went for a trail ride after we did some work. It was pretty wet but we have hardy kids!!

Pyramid Race Fundraiser Saturday 14th August

 Our sincere thanks to the
Pyramid Race Committee for supporting the Gordonvale Pony Club

A BIG THANK YOU to Michelle from
TheFeed Shop Gordonvale for her support and donation of hay for our
ponies and horses on the day.

It was a full on but fun filled day for the
dedicated members of our club who came and helped or provided the ponies
to raise the much needed funds for our club.
There are too many of you to list....you all
know who you are and you were all wonderful.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

 Our gorgeous ponies and horses
LJ, Paddy, Eby, Luke Skywalker, Conrad, Jaffa, Paddle Pop and Romeo
worked hard all day and were very kind to
over 250 kids, teenagers and adults on the day.

We more than achieved our goal

WELL DONE EVERYONE!

and thank you again.

As the saying goes MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK.

Cairns Show
Gordonvale club members have had a successful year at the show! On their first outing Tellena Hill won the Led in Quarter Horse Gelding Class

with ‘One Diesel Powered Peptos’. Tellena also took out first in the Paint or Pinto Led in Mare or Filly with ‘Hollywood Colours’ also their first outing!

The Judge was lovely and the morning was well organised with helpful staff and classes running on time. A big Thank You to the Cairns Show Association! It would have been nice to see more competitors, numbers were down and we need to support these events so they continue to run them in future shows.

A BIG THANK YOU to Powerlink for promoting our club & its new jumping equipment
in the Cairns Sun this week - this is the artlcle that went in for those of you that don't get to see the Cairns Sun

Rachael Longworth Western Clinic
We had a very successful and informative Clinic with Rachael Longworth who was a past 5 time Australian Champion and experienced judge at various western shows.
From the survey Tellena did, all clinic attendees were very happy with the day and would do it again. We had a lovely lunch with beautiful quiches (thank you Toni) and salads etc and even though there was light rain around
it did not stop us from enjoying the day. 11 Riders signed up & there was even a waiting list!

A big thank you to Tellena for organising the clinic and the members of the Gordonvale Pony Club
who helped out and of course a big thank you to Rachael for taking
the time to explain, demonstrate and help individual riders with improving their training and riding.

Looking forward to Harry doing some great extended trot at the dressage next weekend!

Lisa Tanner got the better of Taz this time winning the over 25's group
We only needed to do 350mpm
- the benefits of having a carthorse!

FINALLY WE ARE OFF & RUNNING!We had our first rally day on Sunday and we had about 21 riders on the day so a great turnout.
We started at 8.30am with troop drill and then had three rings going with Julie instructing the little kids (about six) in the arena,
Jan doing the flat work over poles and Louise and David concentrating on the sporting.
Even though it looked like rain we didn't get any but it was very hot. We stopped around 11.45 for lunch and then we took about 7 or 8 kids on a trail ride after lunch.

A big THANK YOU to the instructors who were out in the sun again and also a big THANK YOU to Cindy Lazzaroni for working in the canteen. She made some delicious pumpkin scones and Hazel made a lovely chocolate slice (and there were healthy sandwiches also!).

We intend to have rally days every fortnight from now on & they will be mornings with a break for lunch and then home or maybe a trail ride.

Jodi Wyllie has been out & about again. She did an Equestrian Australia assessment for her riding certificate on Friday with Ron Paterson in Atherton. She passed the activity slip 2 which was riding in the open & over trot poles. She then went on to the Far Northern Region Dressage Championships at Innisfail & it rained all day. William & Jodi battled on through the swimming pool arenas and placed 9th in preliminary 1B 54% & 8th in preliminary 1C 55.68%.

FNEG April's competition was a great day. William did three tests and a warm up test. Spinner did two tests. Poor Spinner pulled a shoe just before his second test. William placed 2nd in preparatory 1 60%, open green horse 1A 59.25% & prix caprilli 60.5%. Spinner placed 3rd in preparatory 2 50% & 8th in preliminary 1A 53.5%. Spinner scratched from the prix caprilli because of his anhydrosis (puffs).

SUNCORP GAMES - Well Done Gordonvale Riders!

Congratulations to Gordonvale rider Jodi Wyllie
and her horse Sir William
at the Dressage & Show Horse Events at Mareeba

They came 2nd in the Open Warm up Trot test, 2nd in the Open Green Horse - Preliminary
& 2nd in the Pair of Hacks and 3rd in the Hunter Hack.

Also congratulations to Lisa Christensen & Rocky on getting Silver in their group
at the Suncorp Games Ravenshoe ODE
She started with a dressage score of 62.5%, went clear cross country & had a tiny 4 faults at no 5 in the jump phase!
