GORDONVALE PONY CLUB
AND
EQUESTRIAN CENTRE
Louise Cable-Tuck ~ Instructor
Louise was put on a horse at 4 years old and was immediately hooked. She had Welsh Mountain ponies and Shetland ponies when she was little. Then she took a bit of a break for around 20 years, not owning any, just riding other people's horses from time to time. Louise calls herself a bush rider & went to pony club in Ingham (where she was born and raised). She tried Cairns in 1967 for a couple of years, went back to Ingham & then came back to Cairns again.
As kids, Louise & her friends used to ride down by the Herbert River. She loved jumping, still does and is now also interested in western disciplines such as cutting, reining & campdrafting. She loves being out on the trail & regularly goes for long bush rides with her friends.
Louise did her Pony Club "C" Grade Certificate for the club so that we could have rally days & provide instruction for our kids. She is interested in instilling a love and respect for horses and will not tolerate any cruelty. Louise wants the kids of Gordonvale Pony Club to have respect, manners and sportsmanship AND she believes strongly that pony club is for the social interaction of kids and horses. She puts this all into practice at our rally days whilst also teaching the basics, getting the kids to learn how to care and ride their horses and above all to be kind riders.
Louise was part of the team which restarted the Gordonvale Pony Club in Vico Street in the late 90s in order for the Gordonvale kids could join others at the pony club gymkhanas and compete.
